The City of Belleville is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Laborer II in our Department of Public Works. Qualifications include a high school diploma, GED equivalent or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicant must possess a working knowledge of basic arithmetic including the ability to perform and record arithmetic computations accurately and quickly; ability to accurately read and record data from various type of meter dials; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to work in inclement weather; ability to establish successful working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and the public; skill in operating hand tools, calculator, motor vehicles and backhoe. Qualified applicant must possess a current and valid CDL. Physical demands include the ability to sit, stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl, talk, hear and see; and to routinely use hands to operate objects, tools and controls; position routinely lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves more than 100 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside and outside including frequent exposure to hot, cold, wet and/or humid conditions.
